Hraparak daily of Armenia writes as follows, in particular: Today, on July 3, the General Assembly of Judges will take place, the agenda of which is the election of 3 members to the ethics and disciplinary commission of judges.

Before the amendments to the law, the commission consisted of 6 judges and 2 non-judge members. But at the request of civil society, the number of non-judge members was increased by three, in a ratio of five to six.

7 candidates have been nominated for 3 vacant positions (...) [also] lawyer Lusine Hakobyan from the “Europe in Law” NGO, (...).

It turns out that just days before today’s election, the [Armenian state-funded] Public [Television] called Lusine Hakobyan and conducted an interview, in which the candidate did not bypass the topic of the ethics and disciplinary commission of judges also. This circumstance, according to our information, has caused indignation not only among her contenders, who believe that thus an unequal competitive environment has been created for them, but also among the independent judges who elect the members of the commission.

They told us that this fact is, in essence, a message to the judges [of Armenia] about who [PM Nikol] Pashinyan sees in one of the vacant seats on that commission. It is obvious that attempts are being made to manage the judicial system, to stuff one’s own people everywhere.
