The national flags of Armenia will be placed at main entrances to all settlements in country.

The draft of relevant amendments to the law on the national flag of Armenia, tabled by MPs— National Assembly (NA) speaker—Alen Simonyan and Alkhas Ghazaryan of the ruling Civil Contract faction in the NA, was adopted in the NA on Friday in the second and final reading.

Members of the ruling party believe that such a decision will enable raising the national self-awareness of Armenian citizens.

Currently, Armenia’s national flags are placed at main entrances to the settlements in the country without any regulations. Most often, municipal authorities place them in the main squares of cities—and less often at the entrance to the cities—at their discretion.

The government of Armenia will monitor the procedure for placing and looking after this national symbol of the country.
