The red banner of revenge was raised above the dome of the Mosalla during the funeral of the ayatollah of the Islamic Republic, Ali Khamenei, in Tehran. This was reported by the ISNA news agency.

“During the ceremony, a red flag bearing the inscription ‘O avengers of Hussein!’ was raised above the dome of the Imam Khomeini shrine,” the publication said.

In Shiite symbolism, the red flag signifies a call for revenge. The last time the banner was raised was on March 1, following reports of Khamenei’s death as a result of a missile strike by the United States and Israel.
