Turkey’s initiatives to resume the negotiation process between Russia and Ukraine will be one of the topics of the planned meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and U.S. President Donald Trump in Ankara on Tuesday, a source in the Turkish government told RIA Novosti.

On June 29, Erdogan stated the need to achieve concrete results in settling the conflict between Russia and Ukraine through dialogue in the near future.

“Turkey’s initiatives to resume negotiations on Ukraine will be included in the agenda of the meeting between Presidents Erdogan and Trump in Ankara,” the agency’s source said.

In 2025, Russia and Ukraine held three rounds of direct negotiations in Istanbul. Their result was a prisoner exchange. In addition, Russia handed over the bodies of fallen Ukrainian servicemen to the Kyiv regime. The sides also exchanged draft memorandums on resolving the conflict.
