Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Yevdokimov on Monday was summoned to the Azerbaijani foreign ministry, the latter informs.
During the meeting, the Azerbaijani side expressed a strong protest over the drone attack on an Azerbaijani SOCAR gasoline station in the Mykolaiv Region of Ukraine on Sunday evening and handed a corresponding note to the Russian side.
It was noted that this drone attack is not the first such incident. Earlier, SOCAR facilities located in Ukraine, including the gas distribution compressor station and the Odessa oil depot, had already been subjected to military strikes and other destructive consequences of hostilities, as a result of which the company suffered significant material damage, and there were affected among its employees.
It was emphasized that the continuation of such incidents, despite repeated warnings, testifies to their targeted nature.
During the meeting, attention was drawn also to several airstrikes, as a result of which the buildings of the embassy of Azerbaijan in Kyiv and the honorary consulate of Azerbaijan in Kharkiv were damaged. The need for strict observance of obligations to ensure the immunity of diplomatic and consular representations in accordance with the Vienna Conventions was emphasized.
The Russian side was called upon to conduct a comprehensive investigation into all the facts mentioned, to provide appropriate explanations regarding the incidents that occurred, as well as to ensure compliance with international obligations to protect civilian objects, diplomatic and consular representations.
