At today's session on July 7, the Court of General Jurisdiction of the Avan and Nor Nork administrative districts, presided over by Judge Garik Abelyan, ruled to place Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan under arrest for two months.

It should be recalled that from the early morning of July 6, searches were carried out at the mansion of Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan, in almost all companies belonging to the Multi Group concern, as well as in the apartments of the directors of those organizations.

Later, after the search at the mansion was completed, Tsarukyan was detained and taken to the Investigative Committee. At the same time, one more person was also detained along with him.

In its statement, the Investigative Committee presented the grounds for Tsarukyan’s detention: “In one of the criminal proceedings being investigated by the Main Department for the Investigation of Economic Crimes and Smuggling of the Investigative Committee, factual data were obtained indicating that, at the organization of G.T., a number of persons allegedly committed fraud on an especially large scale and money laundering on an especially large scale in 2022–2024.”

Tsarukyan described the accusation as “false, fabricated, a sham.”

Tsarukyan’s lawyer also yesterday called the accusation “absurd and ridiculous,” noting: “Where Tsarukyan or a company connected to him in some way should have been recognized as victims, in this case he was turned into an accused person.”
