Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an interview with CNN that, despite certain disagreements with U.S. President Donald Trump on the issue of Iran, both sides share a common position on the main aspects.

Netanyahu noted that it is still premature to say how events will unfold after Washington and Tehran sign a temporary peace agreement.

"The president believes he will be able to stop Iran's nuclear program," the Israeli prime minister said, adding that he himself is doubtful about this.

"On the main issues, we see eye to eye, and sometimes our opinions differ, but we remain true allies," Netanyahu emphasized.

Commenting on the possible U.S. sale of fifth-generation F-35 fighter jets to Turkey, the Israeli prime minister said that such a step would "destroy" the balance of power in the Middle East.

"This will destroy the balance of power in the Middle East because, as I see it, Turkey has aggressive ambitions," Netanyahu said.

"When you give it such power, aggression will follow," he added.
