Hraparak daily of Armenia writes as follows, in particular: The selection of the [new] parliamentary leadership is almost over in the CC [i.e. the ruling Civil Contract Party], the candidates for the NA [(National Assembly)] chair, vice-chairs, and faction leader have already been selected, the positions of the faction secretary and the NA standing committees’ chairs remain.

9 of the 12 standing committees, according to the D'Hondt formula, go to the CC, 3 to [opposition] Strong Armenia [Alliance], whereas the [opposition] "Armenia" Alliance does not get the position of a committee chair. Will the opposition take the positions, and the "strong [Armenia Alliance]" following the example of [20]21, will cede the position of chair of one committee to their junior colleagues? The SA [i.e. Strong Armenia] does not yet have the answer to this question.

Moreover, they have not even decided whether they will take the [aforesaid] positions or boycott them. And in the CC, the issue of selecting committee chairs has become a cause for heated discussions. Previously, the NA faction chose the candidates for committees’ chairs, this time there is talk that the [CC] board will choose them.

There is a muted dissatisfaction in the CC that in the parliamentary system of governance, parliamentarians are actually deprived of the right to make decisions and are simply “backpacks.” By the way, although the CEC [i.e. the Central Electoral Commission] will provide the [parliamentary] mandates of MPs [of the new NA] at the end of the month, the opposition factions say that they have not elected either the faction leaders or the secretaries.
