US Central Command (CENTCOM) said it had completed a new round of offensive strikes against Iran, striking more than 80 targets with precision-guided munitions in immediate response to Iran’s recent attacks on merchant ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
US forces struck Iranian air defense systems, command and control networks, coastal radar sites, anti-ship missile systems, and more than 60 small Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps vessels in and around the Strait of Hormuz to disrupt Iran’s ability to continue its attacks on international commerce through the international trade corridor, CENTCOM said in a statement.
Iran recently attacked three merchant vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, and this is a clear and dangerous violation of the ceasefire and undermines freedom of navigation, CENTCOM added.
The US Central Command forces remain on alert and are prepared to hold Iran accountable in case of non-compliance or non-fulfillment of the agreement, CENTCOM concluded.
