Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement following the overnight U.S. strikes.

“Less than twenty days after the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, the announcement of the revocation of the general license issued on June 21 became yet another indication of the bad faith, inconsistency, and unreliability of the United States. At the same time, over the past twenty days, the United States has repeatedly, and in various ways, both directly and through the actions of the Zionist regime against Lebanon, violated various provisions of the memorandum.

Since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on June 18, the Islamic Republic of Iran has, in good faith and in full, made efforts to fulfill its obligations in accordance with this document. However, the U.S. administration, as before, while simultaneously violating its own obligations, tried to justify its actions with fabricated pretexts.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, warning of the consequences of the United States’ violation of the agreement, stated that it would take any measures it deems necessary to protect its national interests and ensure national security,” Tehran noted.
