U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the ceasefire with Iran was over. “I think it’s all over,” he said at the NATO summit after Washington and Tehran once again exchanged massive strikes in the Middle East. Trump stressed that he no longer wants to deal with the Iranian authorities because it is “a waste of time.” “These are sick people… cruel and prone to violence,” he noted.

On Tuesday, in response to shelling of commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, the United States struck more than 80 military targets in Iran. After that, overnight into July 8, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had attacked 85 U.S. military facilities, including in Bahrain and Kuwait. Earlier, the United States and Iran had already exchanged strikes amid the ceasefire.

Trump allowed that negotiations with Iran could continue, but expressed serious doubts about their effectiveness. In his view, a “pack of liars” is in power in the republic. “These are bad people, and frankly, I don’t want to waste my time on them. If our wonderful negotiators want to continue the talks, fine, but personally I don’t see any point in it,” Trump concluded.
