YEREVAN. – Hovakim Babayan (a.k.a. Round) was recently released from an Armenian jail, Zhoghovurd daily writes.

“This man’s name became known after the March 1 [2008 tragic] events [in capital Yerevan], when Babayan—who was a constant participant in the rallies organized by the [opposition bloc] Armenian National Congress and a constant visitor of opposition offices—began giving false testimonies against the political prisoners.

It became apparent that he was sent to the opposition camp by the police as an agent. [But] Hovakim was imprisoned much later than the March 1 events, on charges fraud, and now he is free.

According to eyewitnesses, Babayan now travels with the accompaniment of law enforcement agencies,” Zhoghovurd writes.
