The ceasefire between the US and Iran “has at least temporarily ceased,” a US official said in a statement to CNN. According to him, the situation remains very dynamic, and Washington does not rule out new strikes after the already announced operation. The US military is in a wait-and-see mode.

As per the aforesaid official, in the recent attacks, the US has struck Iranian facilities related to missiles and drones that could pose a threat to US forces, including aircraft carrier group led by the USS Abraham Lincoln. In addition, targets in the Strait of Hormuz area were hit, which, according to the US side, could be used to threaten shipping.

The operation was carried out using US naval forces and included strikes from sea and land. Currently, the operations being carried out on the deck of the aforesaid aircraft carrier are mainly defensive. The ship can also be used to monitor the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and participate in its possible blockade, if such a measure is used again.

The American official noted that offensive operations are not ruled out, depending on the future development of the situation. Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that the memorandum of understanding with Iran is over, but peace talks may continue.
