Kazakhstan’s Interior Ministry has deployed 59 police posts along the state border to prevent the illegal export of fuel.

According to the ministry, since the beginning of the year, 255 cases have been identified involving the operation of vehicles with illegally installed additional fuel tanks. All violators were brought to administrative responsibility.

Among those fined were 195 foreign nationals and 60 citizens of Kazakhstan. The Interior Ministry emphasized that the tightened control is aimed at preventing the illegal export of fuels and lubricants beyond the country’s borders.

Earlier, the republic’s Vice Minister of Energy, Kairkhan Tutkyshbayev, said that Kazakhstan had tightened border controls because of fuel exports.
