The multi-million-packed farewell ceremony for Iran's late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and his deceased family members has ended in the city of Mashhad, IRNA news agency reports.

The respective funeral procession, which began at 3pm local time on Thursday, ended at the Imam Reza shrine.

At approximately 10pm, a funeral prayer, or Janazah, was held at Mashhad's main shrine and in nearby squares.

The memorial service was led by the late Supreme Leader's eldest son, Mostafa Hosseini Khamenei.

According to Iranian state television, the late Supreme Leader's other sons were also in attendance to the prayers.
