The oil refinery in Moscow’s Kapotnya District, which was hit twice by drones in June, caught fire again on Friday, according to video footage released by monitoring channels.

Thick black smoke billowed from the 14 million-ton annual capacity plant, which provides about a third of the Russian capital’s fuel consumption.

Moscow was hit by at least 14 drone attacks overnight, Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said. He added that all of them were shot down.

In total, the Russian air defenses “destroyed” 376 drones, according to the defense ministry.

Gazprom Neft's Moscow oil refinery, which produces 3 million tons of gasoline and the same amount of diesel fuel annually, was attacked on June 16 and 18, after which it stopped producing petroleum products. According to Reuters sources, two primary oil processing units at the plant were damaged. Their repair may be delayed until 2027, the aforesaid news agency's interlocutors said.

In a pessimistic scenario, the cost of repairs at the Moscow oil refinery could reach $1 billion, analysts at Sinara Investment Bank have estimated. According to their calculations, the resumption of this plant's operation could take up to a year.
