Foreign ministers of the European Union countries will discuss the possibility of introducing a ban on imports of goods from Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories. This was reported by AFP.

According to diplomatic sources, the meeting in Brussels on Monday is unlikely to lead to specific decisions, but it will make it possible to assess the level of support for such an initiative among EU member states.

The European Union is facing growing pressure to take action. This week, the European Commission presented possible options for restricting trade with the settlements, including a full ban on imports of products.

At the same time, disagreements remain in Brussels regarding the procedure for adopting such a decision: some believe that approval by all 27 member states will be required, while others think that a qualified majority will be sufficient.

Some EU countries, including Ireland, the Netherlands, and Spain, have already introduced their own restrictions on trade with Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, which are considered illegal under international law.
