The United States imposed a new package of sanctions against Iran and at the same time published Iran General License Y. This was stated in a notice posted on the U.S. Department of the Treasury website.

According to the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the sanctions were imposed after Iran resumed attacks on international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

The restrictions also targeted Iranian financial intermediary Ali Ansari, who, according to U.S. authorities, manages an extensive international network of assets that benefits Iran’s leader Mojtaba Khamenei and other representatives of the Iranian leadership.

In addition, OFAC issued Iran General License Y, regulating certain transactions related to the current sanctions regime against Iran.
