YEREVAN. – The situation established due to the recent parliamentary elections in Armenia, where opposition powers form minority, testified to the fact that opposition merely desired to enter new parliament, Artavazd Vardanyan, who is on hunger strike in front of Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission since May 3, said at a press conference on Thursday.

Regarding the Wednesday incident, when he was kidnapped, he believes it was organized by the community head of Musaler village, where he lives. Vardanyan said that he wanted to set up a tent on that day, however, Deputy Police of Yerevan Robert Melkonyan took it away. Later on the same day it was returned to him. In the evening some people approached him when he was alone, and kidnapped saying they take him home. Vardanyan was indeed taken home and the community head came and tried to persuade him to end the hunger strike. However, he returned back to Yerevan. Vardanyan believes that authorities try to devoid him from opportunity of expressing his civil right. To note, the hunger strike is declared to be indefinite.
