Former U.S. President Joe Biden expressed his condolences over the death of Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, calling the news of his passing a shock.

“Jill and I are shocked by the sudden death of Lindsey Graham,” Biden wrote on X.

According to the former U.S. president, he and Graham worked together in Congress for more than ten years and cooperated closely on many issues, including on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Biden noted that they often differed in their views and argued, but were united in their belief in the importance of public service.

Biden also expressed his condolences to the senator’s family, his staff, the residents of South Carolina, and everyone who was close to Graham, assuring them that he and his wife would pray for them.
