Iran did not violate the memorandum signed with the United States, and responsibility for its non-implementation lies with Washington. This was stated by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei at a briefing, TASS reports.

According to him, Tehran has always approached negotiations with the United States responsibly and has never been the initiator of violating the agreements reached.

“Iran has never been the initiator of violating obligations. We proudly declare that the Islamic Republic of Iran has demonstrated meticulousness and seriousness in all negotiations. The party that constantly violates agreements is the American side,” Baghaei said.

The representative of Iran’s foreign ministry noted that Tehran intends to adhere to the principle of reciprocity and will respond in kind to the actions of the United States.

“From the very beginning, we spoke about the principle of ‘commitment in exchange for commitment.’ If the other side fulfills its obligations, we will also fulfill ours. From now on, we will act in this way: as long as the other side continues to violate its obligations, the Islamic Republic of Iran, in turn, will refrain from fulfilling the obligations it has undertaken,” Baghaei stated.

Commenting on the situation in the region, the Iranian Foreign Ministry representative emphasized that Tehran had not carried out strikes against the Persian Gulf countries and that its actions were directed exclusively against American military facilities.

He added that Iran had repeatedly called on the countries of the region not to allow the United States to use their territory for operations against the Islamic Republic.

Separately, Baghaei touched on the issue of the security of the Strait of Hormuz, stating that Iran would not allow this strategic route to be turned into a source of threats to its national security.

According to him, U.S. statements about military escorts for commercial vessels indicate Washington’s desire to preserve instability in the region.
