Iran's attacks on the territory of the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf are a "gross violation of international law." This was stated by the new Secretary-General of the League of Arab States (Arab League), Nabil Fahmy.

"The continuation of Iranian aggression against Arab countries constitutes a flagrant violation of international law," Fahmy said during his first press conference as Arab League secretary-general, a post he assumed on July 1. His remarks were reported by the Egyptian TV channel Al Qahera Al Ekhbariya.

The official added that, in his view, "an infringement on the sovereignty of any Arab state requires a unified and firm position from all members of the alliance." He also noted that, as Arab League secretary-general, he plans to reform the organization's structure, though he did not provide additional details.

On the previous day, forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, Iran's elite military units) carried out strikes on U.S. military facilities located in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Jordan.
