YEREVAN. – All of Armenia’s politically influencing forces have in fact accepted the game rules established after the May 6 National Assembly elections, capital Yerevan’s Caucasus Institute Deputy Director, political analyst Sergey Minasyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am. 

“All influential political forces have agreed to play with the same rules,” he added.  

Commenting on the fact that the opposition bloc Armenian National Congress (ANC) has applied to the Constitutional Court with a request to cancel the election results, Minasyan noted that this step was comprehensible and predictable.

“This is a necessary condition so that the opposition can justify itself among the constituents,” the analyst noted. 

“Six political forces have entered the Parliament. And although the majority of the MP mandates belong to the Republican Party, the very same ANC can form a faction and send former PM Hrant Bagratyan to the Parliament,” Sergey Minasyan said, and added that the current political situation has made it easier to oversee the executive authorities. 

To note, Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission has issued the preliminary results of the May 6 parliamentary elections. Five political parties and one bloc will be represented in the 131-seat National Assembly (Parliament) of Armenia: Republican Party of Armenia – 44.05%, Prosperous Armenia Party – 30.20%, Armenian National Congress – 7.10%, Heritage Party – 5.79%, ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party – 5.73%, and Orinats Yerkir Party – 5.49%.
