Armenian prisoner of war (POW) Lyudvig Mkrtchyan is fighting for his life in an Azerbaijani prison. The president of the Buenos Aires Chapter of the Society for Orphaned Armenian Relief (SOAR), lawyer Luciana Minassian, informed about this on X.

Minassian reported that the 56-year-old Mkrtchyan’s leukocyte count is 14.27, which is almost double the normal, with massive inflammation.

“Severe heart damage: left ventricular hypertrophy + diastolic dysfunction + aortic regurgitation. Repeated headaches, dizziness, chest pain & sky-high BP — all hidden in official ‘stable’ report! This is deliberate medical neglect of a 2020 POW. No ICRC access. No real treatment,” the lawyer added and attached some pages of Mkrtchyan’s medical references.

Lyudvig Mkrtchyan was sentenced in Azerbaijan to 20 years in prison.
