The UAE will build a new port bypassing the Strait of Hormuz, writes the Financial Times.

Dubai-based operator DP World wants to move part of its cargo capacity to the country’s eastern coast so that ships can call at the UAE without passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

After Iran closed the strait, activity at the country’s largest port — Jebel Ali — collapsed by 90–95%.

Thanks to the new route, containers will be able to be delivered to the coast of the Gulf of Oman and then transported overland to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and other countries in the region.
