The United States has imposed additional sanctions on Iran, adding another ten individuals, 24 companies, and 20 vessels to the sanctions list, according to a document published by the US Treasury Department.

The sanctioned companies are mainly engaged in maritime shipping. Among the vessels on the updated list, in addition to general cargo ships, are container ships and chemical tankers.

Among the individuals added to the sanctions list is Tehran-born businessman Ali Rahbarmadani, who, according to US authorities, holds dual Russian-Iranian citizenship.

In addition, the US Treasury Department said it had issued a license allowing transactions necessary to wind down operations with persons and vessels included on the sanctions lists until September 12.

The license also permits the delivery and unloading of cargo involving sanctioned vessels, provided that the cargo was loaded no later than July 14 and that the delivery and unloading take place at a port located outside Iran or Russia.

On July 10, the US Treasury Department announced additional sanctions against Iran in connection with the worsening situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
