The US armed forces still have not carried out a full standard review of the intelligence that may have been used in the strike on a school in Iran, CNN reported, citing a source.

According to the network, a review of the entire body of intelligence, including satellite imagery, has still not been conducted. This stage of the investigation is intended to establish what exactly happened and how the strike affected the overall course of the operation. CNN claims that the US military leadership did not issue orders to conduct such a review. Instead, the US carried out only an initial assessment intended to determine whether the originally designated target had been hit and to what extent.

CNN had previously reported that the US military leadership approved strikes in February on a number of targets in Iran, including a girls’ school in the city of Minab, while ignoring a warning that the intelligence was severely outdated.

On February 28, Iranian authorities said that the US and Israel had struck a girls’ primary school in Minab. A total of 175 people were killed, including 168 schoolgirls, and another 95 were injured. US President Donald Trump later blamed the Iranian armed forces for the attack without providing evidence. It later emerged that missile fragments found at the site of the strike bore markings of US-made ordnance.

In an interview with Fox News on July 15, Trump said that the results of the US military’s investigation into the circumstances of the strike on the school would likely never be made public.
