U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent claims that in February 2025 he survived an assassination attempt by a "left-wing activist" just two hours after being sworn into his new position in the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.

"In February 2025, I became the target of an assassination attempt by a left-wing activist with a clouded mind two hours after I took office," Bessent said at an event in Washington.

The secretary advised journalists who try to portray his story as fiction to attend the sentencing in August.
