A bipartisan initiative to adopt an updated package of sanctions against Russia, proposed by the late Senator Lindsey Graham, has gained the support of more than 60 members of the US Senate. Axios reported this on July 16, citing a source.

"There are currently at least 61 co-sponsors, including 39 Republicans and 22 Democrats," the publication said.

It is уточняется that support for the bill from more than 60 senators makes it possible to overcome the procedure for blocking consideration of the initiative in the Senate. At the same time, the document still has to be approved by the House of Representatives.

According to the portal, the updated document proposes imposing 100 percent secondary tariffs on countries that continue to cooperate with Russia in the energy sector. The measures could affect such major buyers of Russian resources as China and India.
