Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk will hold a meeting in September to discuss trade and economic issues, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said; he also announced the restoration of direct flights from Azerbaijan to a number of Russian cities.
“Given the need for regular contacts and the groundwork that already exists, there is a preliminary agreement between the deputy prime ministers, and a meeting between Shahin Mustafayev and Alexey Overchuk is planned for September this year in order to discuss a number of areas,” Bayramov said at a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov following bilateral talks on Friday in Moscow.
According to him, the restoration of direct flights to Russia on a number of routes is also expected in the near future, to destinations that had been subject to restrictions after the December 2024 tragedy — the crash of an AZAL plane.
