The Trump administration has tentatively agreed to allow Saudi Arabia to enrich uranium without imposing international safeguards intended to prevent the development of nuclear weapons. This was reported by CNN.

Although U.S.-Saudi negotiations are supposed to conclude in October 2025, the draft nuclear agreement, which outlines U.S. support for Riyadh’s civilian nuclear program, is awaiting the signature of President Donald Trump.

Two sources said that the ongoing war with Iran, which Trump said was launched in part to prevent Tehran from using enriched uranium to build nuclear weapons, played a role in delaying Trump’s signing of the agreement.

Experts said that this deal could potentially open the way for Saudi Arabia to acquire nuclear weapons if strict safeguards are not put in place.
