Next week, we will continue reviewing draft laws aimed at improving migration policy. This was reported by Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.

“One of them proposes to EXCLUDE THE POSSIBILITY of obtaining citizenship of the Russian Federation or the right to reside in our country for migrants who have an outstanding or unexpunged criminal record for committing ANY crime on the territory of Russia or beyond its borders.

In addition, previously issued residence permits or temporary residence permits will be REVOKED if such a fact is discovered.

This will not affect foreign citizens recognized as refugees or those who have received political or temporary asylum in our country.

At the next meeting of the State Duma Council, we will discuss this and other legislative initiatives.

Since 2024, 30 federal laws have been adopted to restore order in the field of migration.

A legal framework has been created thanks to which the Interior Ministry, in June 2026 alone, was able to:

prevent more than 60,000 violations in this area;

open 2,000 criminal cases;

expel and deport 14,600 migrants from the Russian Federation;

issue decisions restricting entry into our country for 29,300 foreign citizens;

identify and bring to administrative responsibility 10,400 unscrupulous employers for illegally involving migrants in employment,” Volodin noted.
