Although our nuclear facilities were damaged during the 12-day war and we were effectively under a forced moratorium, our task was to reject the enemy’s demand to accept a ban on uranium enrichment. This was stated by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Mehr reports.

“It cannot be said that if we had accepted this condition, there would have been no war. And if we had accepted this demand, we would have suffered great losses and betrayed the country’s honor,” he noted.

In response to the claim that it would have been better to accept the suspension of the agreement until the end of the era of Trump and Netanyahu, Araghchi noted: “The decision was not ours to make. If we had accepted this, we would in fact have allowed the enemy to achieve its goals through war, and this would have become a precedent for it.”

According to him, “the enemy was forced to sign a memorandum of understanding with Iran.”

“Iran, as a superpower, sat down at the negotiating table with America and forced it to respect the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic,” the minister added.
