Amid a new escalation of the conflict between the United States and Iran, gasoline and diesel prices have risen in Germany. According to Bild, a liter of Super costs an average of 2.32 euros, E10 — 2.27 euros, and diesel — 2.3 euros.

Diesel has become especially more expensive: over the past week, it has added almost seven cents per liter. For a 50-liter fill-up, that means an extra 3.35 euros. Such a refueling now costs drivers about 115 euros, while filling up with Super already costs more than 116 euros.

The main reason for the new spike is rising oil prices due to fears of supply disruptions from the Persian Gulf. After the US strikes on Iran, Brent crude has been rising sharply, and markets fear restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant share of global oil trade passes.

At the same time, rising fuel prices in Germany are hitting not only drivers: transportation and production are becoming more expensive, and as a result, many everyday goods are also going up in price.
