Two tankers attempting to pass along the southern route in the Strait of Hormuz hit explosions and lost propulsion, Press TV reported, citing a statement by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
“IRGC: Two tankers attempting to pass along an unsafe route south of the Strait of Hormuz hit explosions and stopped moving,” the report said.
The names of the tankers and their ownership were not specified.
Overnight into Saturday, the IRGC had said that two tankers hit explosions and caught fire while attempting to pass along the southern route in the Strait of Hormuz, where mines may be present.
Later, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) denied this statement.
