Lawyer Tatevik Soghoyan writes on her Facebook page:

"Remember when I said we would be appealing to international bodies over the 'Sacred Struggle' case? Remember when I said this would go down as the most disgraceful case in the history of Armenian justice? Well, here's the first result of 8 months of relentless work: of the 19 communications ever filed against Armenia, this is the most shameful, the most serious, and the most mockery of human rights and international law.

Although in our submission we had shown the timeline and general context of the political persecution of the 'Sacred Struggle' participants (including the violence of June 12), we had placed particular emphasis on the case of the '18 Righteous' and the absurdity of the 'terrorism' charge.

Nevertheless, the UN expert group has made the subject of its inquiry not just the '18 Righteous' case alone, but the broader context, considering at least 109 people to have been affected by the state apparatus's repressions.

'We are concerned about the measures taken by the authorities, which are not in line with Armenia's international obligations regarding human rights.'

Well then, dear 'people's bastion' supporters, enjoy the recognition of your dictatorship. Everything is still ahead.
