Air France has announced the suspension of flights to Riyadh and Dubai due to the deteriorating security situation in the region.

The carrier said it is canceling flights to and from Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) through July 25 inclusive, and is also suspending service to Dubai (UAE) through July 28. In addition, the company has extended the suspension of flights to and from Beirut until August 2 (flights on this route have not operated since March 1).

Air France representatives said that the resumption of flights will depend on a reassessment of the security situation, which, according to them, is “changing rapidly.”

“Air France reiterates that the safety of passengers and crew remains its highest priority,” the airline added.

This step was taken amid the US announcement that it is sending additional fighter jets to the region because of escalating tensions with Iran.

Earlier, a number of international airlines from various countries — including the US, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the United Kingdom — had already suspended flights to Middle Eastern countries due to the military conflict between the US and Iran.
