Iran’s Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni arrived in Islamabad on a two-day official visit at the invitation of his Pakistani counterpart, Syed Mohsin Naqvi, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, border security, and agriculture, IRNA reported.

Upon arrival at Nur Khan Air Base, Momeni and the delegation accompanying him were received by Naqvi and Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam.

The delegation includes senior officials from the ministries of interior, foreign affairs, roads and urban development, and agriculture, as well as representatives of Iran’s Law Enforcement Command and Customs Administration.

According to Iran’s Interior Ministry, the delegation also includes representatives of the ministries of oil, industry, economy and finance, as well as senior officials from Sistan and بلوچستان Province.

During the visit, the sides are expected to discuss the development of bilateral relations, including strengthening border cooperation, as well as expanding economic, transit, and agricultural ties between the two countries.

The trip is being made in implementation of President Masoud Pezeshkian’s directive to increase the annual volume of trade between Iran and Pakistan from $3 billion to $10 billion.

During the trip, Momeni also plans to hold meetings with other senior Pakistani officials.
