The US State Department has urged Americans in the Middle East to remain vigilant amid heightened tensions in the region.

The security situation in the Middle East remains complex, with the risk of unpredictable escalation continuing, the State Department said.

“US citizens currently in the Middle East are advised to exercise increased caution, closely monitor developments, and be prepared for possible flight cancellations, temporary airspace closures, and disruptions to railway services,” the statement said.

Americans outside the Middle East are advised to reconsider plans to travel to or transit through the region. US diplomatic facilities, including those outside the Middle East, have previously been targeted in attacks. Iran and Iran-backed groups may carry out attacks against US-related facilities and American citizens in various countries around the world, according to the State Department.
