The Lebanese army says its soldiers have begun deploying in the southern town of Zawtar al-Gharbiyeh after Israeli troops withdrew from the area under an agreement brokered by the United States.

"The army command once again calls on citizens not to head to the town until the security situation stabilizes and to follow the instructions of the deployed military units for their own safety," the Lebanese army said in a statement, reports Al Jazeera.

Earlier, the U.S. State Department said that Zawtar al-Gharbiyeh, along with the villages of Froun and Srifa, is among the three areas where the implementation of the agreement brokered by Washington will be tested.

Against this backdrop, reports are once again coming in of Iranian attacks on the territory of Jordan, Qatar, and Bahrain, as well as of Israel’s large-scale bombardment of southern Lebanon.
