Fuel supplies from Azerbaijan, including gasoline and diesel, have become a “significant contribution to Armenia’s energy security,” Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said, according to local media reports.

Speaking at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Berlin, Aliyev stated that “following the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, the initialing of the peace agreement, and the signing of the Joint Declaration at the White House with the participation of US President Donald Trump, the conflict that had lasted for more than 30 years was effectively brought to an end.”

“Azerbaijan immediately moved to practical steps after this agreement. The gasoline and diesel fuel currently supplied by Azerbaijan to Armenia represent a very significant contribution to Armenia’s energy security. This is especially important given that today there are numerous issues related to the export and import of petroleum products for certain reasons. The shipment of transit cargo to Armenia through Azerbaijani territory has gained significant momentum. To date, more than 40,000 tons of cargo have passed through Azerbaijan’s territory,” Aliyev added.
