U.S. President Donald Trump said that the United States will strike Iran’s “Pickaxe Mountain” facility very soon.

This fortified underground complex is located about one and a half kilometers south of Natanz in central Iran. In 2020, Tehran informed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that the site was intended for the future assembly of centrifuges used to enrich nuclear fuel.

Asked whether he believed Iran had already moved nuclear centrifuges there, Trump replied: “We have no official information on that.”

“That means nothing until they have the materials. The material itself is not there — what we are tracking is the movement of materials; that is where the main activity is taking place,” the president said. “In all likelihood, we will strike that area very soon. And they will not be able to do anything about it. You know, ordinarily I would not say something like that. If I thought they were capable of responding in some way, I would never voice it. But we will strike that area very soon, and the strike will be extremely powerful.”

Last week, Trump made a similar statement on the program of conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, saying that the United States would “probably try to strike ‘Pickaxe’ in the very near future.”

Earlier, CNN, citing an informed Israeli source, reported that in Israel it is believed that Iran moved advanced centrifuges and part of its stockpile of highly enriched uranium to that facility after the 12-day war in June of last year.
