U.S. President Donald Trump wants current FIFA President Gianni Infantino to become the next secretary-general of the United Nations (UN), The New York Post (NYP) reported, citing a source.

“President Trump wants FIFA President Gianni Infantino to become the next secretary-general of the United Nations,” the publication said.

According to a source close to the American president, Trump believes that Infantino “is respected all over the world and recognizes that he has a special ability to bring people together.”

The next UN secretary-general will be elected this year. At the end of December, he will replace the organization’s outgoing current head, Portugal’s António Guterres.
