Regular political consultations between the foreign ministries of Armenia and Canada took place in Ottawa. This was reported to NEWS.am by the press service of the republic’s MFA.

The consultations were conducted by Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan and Canada’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alexandre Lévêque.

The interlocutors noted with satisfaction the current level of developing bilateral relations between the two countries, which received fresh impetus from the visit to Armenia of a delegation led by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to participate in the 8th summit of the European Political Community. The importance of maintaining continuity in high-level bilateral contacts was emphasized.

A wide range of issues related to advancing the Armenia-Canada bilateral agenda was discussed, and cooperation within international organizations was touched upon. Both sides emphasized the need to further strengthen political relations through bilateral economic ties and investments in areas of mutual interest.

Kostanyan also presented to his Canadian colleague the regional developments and efforts aimed at further strengthening the established peace in the South Caucasus.

During the meeting, views were also exchanged on international developments.
