The White House and the office of the Israeli prime minister are discussing the possibility of a meeting between President Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the Oval Office next week, but a date has not yet been set, a White House official and an Israeli source told Axios.

A meeting with Netanyahu could be significant for Trump’s decision-making and for coordination between the countries on Iran.

Last week, Netanyahu requested a meeting with Trump but did not receive an invitation. He then said that he had decided to postpone his trip to Washington because the farewell for the late Senator Lindsey Graham had been rescheduled.

Now Netanyahu plans to travel to Washington to attend Graham’s funeral ceremonies, which will take place on Tuesday.

Israeli officials say they are preparing for a possible expansion of the war in the region into a full-scale coordinated campaign in the coming days. However, they stressed that Israel would join the war only in the event of an attack by Iran or if the United States asks it to take part.
