Armenia has introduced new requirements for the movement of freight transport at border checkpoints. The corresponding decision was adopted at a Government meeting on July 23.

The decision sets requirements for entities engaged in organizing parking facilities, the maximum fee for the queue registration service at parking areas (no more than 5,000 drams), as well as the procedure for connecting entities engaged in organizing parking facilities to the queue management system.

Certain грузовые автомобили, including authorized economic operators holding certificates of compliant taxpayers, as well as vehicles transporting perishable goods, will be granted priority release from parking areas. At the same time, transport carrying goods intended for eliminating the consequences of an emergency caused by a natural or man-made disaster may cross the border without entering the parking area.

In addition, the border crossing points through which freight vehicles may leave Armenia only after entering and exiting a parking area are specified. For now, this applies to the Bagratashen and Agarak checkpoints.

Chairman of Armenia’s State Revenue Committee Eduard Hakobyan explained that the parking area must be located no more than 20 km from the checkpoint, on an asphalted site of at least 3,000 square meters, with electronic systems and cameras that will be linked to the digital systems of the State Revenue Committee.

He added that the queue management system will be administered by the SRC.
