Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio about “the real situation on the line of combat contact” and stressed “the inadmissibility of further pumping Ukraine with weapons,” according to a statement released by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Lavrov also spoke about what the ministry described as the “destabilizing policy of European countries.”
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the ASEAN forum and lasted about 30 minutes. It was the fourth bilateral meeting between Lavrov and Rubio since 2025.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Lavrov “once again confirmed Russia’s readiness for a political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict” and reiterated Moscow’s commitment to the proposals “put forward by the American side” during the meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Alaska in August last year, “to which the Russian leader agreed,” the statement said.
