The agreement between the United States and Saudi Arabia, which allows the kingdom to build nuclear reactors using American technology and enrich uranium, has heightened concerns in Israel about the start of an arms race in the Middle East. Reuters reported this on July 23.

"A nuclear agreement being concluded with Saudi Arabia while bypassing Israel is a serious strategic failure that endangers our security. The enrichment of nuclear fuel on Saudi territory could lead to a regional nuclear race and a dangerous loss of control," said former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.

Former Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said that "Saudi Arabia's civilian nuclear program will end with the creation of nuclear weapons and lead to a mad arms race throughout the Middle East."

According to him, Israel should oppose the deal and "persuade the U.S. Congress to stop it."
