One person was killed during a suspected bank robbery in the city of Regensburg (the federal state of Bavaria) in southern Germany. This was reported by the N-tv channel, citing the police.
According to its information, the attacker is believed to be armed with a knife and is still inside the building. The injured person was taken to the hospital by ambulance, but according to the police, the man died from his injuries.
Law enforcement officers believe that other people are inside the bank. However, it is assumed that they are not being held hostage by the suspect, the channel notes. At the moment, police have not yet entered the building, but large police forces, including special units, have been deployed to the scene, and a helicopter has also been involved.
An emergency call regarding a knife attack at the bank branch was received at around 14:50 (15:50 Moscow time). The attacker’s motives remain unknown for now. No demands have been made by him so far either, a police spokesperson added.
