The Office of the Director of National Intelligence has laid off or reassigned about 200 employees since the beginning of June. This was reported by The Washington Post, citing data submitted by the US administration to Congress.

According to the newspaper, the cuts turned out to be larger than previously reported. While about 2,000 people worked in the office at the beginning of Donald Trump's second presidential term, the staff has now been reduced by almost half.

In June, CNN reported that acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte had begun a large-scale reorganization of the agency. According to the TV channel, Trump expected Pulte to carry out cuts affecting hundreds of employees.

On July 21, the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence recommended approving Jay Clayton's nomination for the post of Director of National Intelligence. Trump announced his nomination on June 11. The nomination must now be approved by the US Senate.
